The Inn at Pinewood is a Bed and Breakfast Resort located on the shores of 345 acre private Carpenter Lake, 5 miles east of Eagle River at the end of Silver Forest Lane. The lake is very clear and quiet, abounding with wildlife and fish (walleye, northern pike, crappies, bass and pan fish). Osprey, hummingbirds, kingfishers, ducks, geese, and others make their summer home at Carpenter Lake. See the loons nesting on Loon Island and eagles perching in the trees around the lake.
There is a sandy beach, safe for all ages. Stroll through the paths to the lake and enjoy the large pine trees. We also offer the rental of canoes, motor boats, kayaks and paddle boat. The Inn offers many unique extras, the setting for the Inn is peaceful and private, guests feel at home as soon as they enter. The massive stone fireplace offers warmth and cheer and a great place for conversation or just relaxing. Grab a paperback to read from our library, stroll through the 2,500 square foot commons area filled with unique antiques and game tables. Our TV/Video room has satellite Tv and room and over 150 VCR movies to enjoy (if you find the time). We also have a game room which includes a pool table antique shuffle board and a electronic dart board. Stay in a spacious guest room or treat yourself to a suite with double jacuzzi and fireplace. We have both to make your special time special. We have Sliding glass doors in each room that lead out to balconies, which overlook the lake and woods. You can also enjoy the large windows overlooking the lake to the North. Breakfasts are memorable. Guests are served in the garden dining room with large windows overlooking the woods. See wildlife such as black squirrels, a variety of birds, deer, and once in a while a friendly bear while enjoying a scrumptious full breakfast of fresh fruit, juices, homemade muffins and a variety of eggs, omelets, quiches or pancakes, are a few dishes that may be served.
Try some of the 1500 lakes in the area. Fishing, swimming, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are some of the 4-season activities in the area. We also have 3 casinos within a 45 minute drive.
Two miles away is the fabulous Nicolet National Forest with its hiking, biking, and snowmobiling trails. Golf, restaurants, groceries, and horseback riding are all within a few minutes drive. Lake Superior and the Upper Peninsula sites are within an hours drive and the famous Eagle Chain of 28 lakes is only 2 miles away.
The original log building was built in 1934 and was originally used as a hunting and fishing lodge. Additions were built onto the front and back, all the while seeking to retain its original uniqueness. We have added a large number of antiques, from bear traps to sleighs, it's an antique lovers dream. The entire Inn is available for private groups. The setting is ideal for retreats, conferences, seminars, meetings, reunions, small weddings and receptions. We are proud to have had many weddings and receptions take place at the Inn. Marriage counselors have sent couples here. So many people from all walks of life come here looking for a romantic, peaceful stay and become our special friends.
